The Club is waking up!
Outstanding Wirral winter league matches will be played over August. HLTC plan to enter two teams in the Wirral Tankard competition. The Monday Ladies social group plan an American Tournament at the end of August. As there are so many more ladies interested in competitive matches, we’ve decided to enter a fourth team in the next winter Wirral league.
Instead of summer tennis camps, Craig and his team will be running junior squad sessions in three x 2 hour slots each day from 27th July to the end of August. These will take place on courts 7 & 8, leaving courts 3-6 available for social tennis booking. There will not be any squad sessions on Thursday or Friday mornings to make sure there are enough courts for the Men’s and Ladies’ groups which play on those days. We don’t know if demand for courts will increase, decrease or stay the same over the summer, so we will keep an eye on usage and adapt accordingly.
From 2nd August, members will be able to use the Clubhouse toilets and handwashing facilities. To prepare the clubhouse cloakrooms to be a Covid-secure environment, we have to carry out a risk assessment, a thorough deep clean and have systems in place to make sure hygiene remains top of the agenda. Please note that the kitchen will remain locked for the foreseeable future.
The bar will be serving twice a week, again from 2nd August: Wednesdays from 6.30-9.30p.m. and Sundays from 4.30-8.30p.m. A limited range of drinks will be served from a table by the patio doors. Again, we must carry out a risk assessment to minimise the risk of virus transmission and protect the health of customers, visitors and volunteer staff serving drinks. It won’t be the same as it was, but it’s a step in the right direction!
The decking can easily become congested and restrict the ability for members arriving and leaving the club while observing safe distancing. Please do not move furniture onto this area!
The Committee meet again on 6th August when the loosening of the previous restrictions will be reviewed and further options considered. Look out for more updates coming soon!
