Dr Mary Cunningham

We are sad to report the death of a former member of HLTC, Dr Mary Cunningham. Mary was a member for many years and there will be many club members who will have happy memories of playing tennis with her. She loved tennis, as well as golf, but her true passion was sailing, becoming Captain of the GP14 fleet at West Kirby Sailing Club and entering many regattas and races. Mary was also a keen member of West Kirby United Reformed Church.

Like her parents and brother, Mary became a doctor. She was a consultant radiologist at Clatterbridge Hospital before taking early retirement to care for her father. Latterly she moved from West Kirby to a Cheshire retirement village to be nearer her son and grandchildren.

Liz Wilson will pass on details of Mary’s funeral in due course. Liz Thompson (625 3809) has a contact address for her son should anyone wish to write to the family.

She will be greatly missed by those who knew her for her pleasant company and sense of humour.
