Competitive tennis at HLTC

HLTC

The club provides opportunities for members of all ages and abilities to get involved in matches with other clubs. Home matches take precedence over all social play. Court reservations are recorded in Clubspark and are available to view using a PC or tablet, but not through the phone app. Here’s a brief summary for the coming season:

National League matches: this is a national competition for teams from under 8s up to seniors.  Usually the matches are played against teams from within our region.  We have entered nine junior and six adult teams. Matches take place on Saturdays or Sundays, with a varying number of courts required at varying times. Head coach Craig Longman organises the teams, selecting the best performing players in each group.

Wirral Summer Tennis League: entered by clubs across Wirral. HLTC enters 4 teams of eight players in the Mixed League and a Men’s team. Mixed matches take place on Tuesday evenings until August and occupy all eight courts from 6pm. Men’s home matches are played on Mondays/Thursdays. Away matches can be any day. Players in the Mixed League have to be ranked. Captain Cal Leach and Vice-captain Guy Ellice-Clark invite anyone who is interested in playing to contact them.

Chester League: one Men’s (contact: Dave Callanan), one Ladies’ (Pam Kloezeman), one Mixed team (Sally Lazar) and one Vet’s team (Geoff Forster) have been entered in this league. Men’s home matches take place on Sundays between 10am and 2pm.  Mixed team home matches take place on Saturday afternoons from 2pm and Ladies’ home matches on Thursday evenings.

Friendly Fixtures: these mixed matches against other Wirral clubs take place on Thursday evenings. Home matches require four courts. Please contact Clair Miller or Chris Caskie if you would like to be in the selection pool for these fixtures.

Note that court requirements may change at short notice due to fixture rearrangements or if the club progresses through the rounds of knock-out tournaments. Club tournament finals dates will also be factored into the schedule.
