Farewell, Chris

HLTC

As time is closing it’s started to hit me that my great friend and coach will be leaving us in a couple of weeks. Such a shame we couldn’t give Chris a send off at a Christmas do and junior presentation, however I was so pleased to see such support last Friday and was made up so many gave him the great send off he deserves.

About 8 years ago we were on a sports event in Oxford and I said to him that day I want you at Hoylake, I want a new voice, as some people hear my voice enough. All I did was set the pathway for him and boy did he get a grip of it! I try to give as much free rein to my coaches as possible with support when needed. Chris understood my vision and has been an instrumental part of my coaching team over these years. Chris is one of the most hard working guys I know, reliable, professional and most importantly I could trust him with any coaching aspect I threw towards him.

In recent years I said I wanted him to take the lead with adult coaching. He developed that so much It felt like he had a 24/7 coaching programme, I had to plead with him at times to give himself a day off! There is no doubt I will miss Chris together with all members of Hoylake LTC. He was the best coach I could have wished for to be a part of the CLS Coaching team. I wish him all the best and I’m fully confident he will be a success in his next challenge!
