WhatsApp and emails

Over the past few months, as we’ve become more dependent on social media instead of meeting face-to-face, a small number of thoughtless, abrasive and upsetting comments have been posted. Even a small number of such comments can’t be ignored. Every one of us has a responsibility to safeguard the mental and physical welfare of all other members. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, welcoming club so please consider the following points:-

– We may hold different views but should be able to discuss these amicably as we have the same intentions: a vibrant and pleasant club, where people of all abilities can enjoy coming to play tennis socially and competitively. If you think there’s a problem, what can you offer to do to resolve it?

– It’s not acceptable to cause stress to others: we need to be concerned about each other’s welfare and act respectfully on and off the courts and online.

– When you post something or email, please be aware of the potential effect of what you write: read before you send. Question your motive in sending an emotionally charged message. Is it acceptable?

– HLTC has a complaints policy which you should follow if you need support to deal with a worrying situation at the Club. We ask all members to familiarise themselves with this policy, as well as with the Codes of Conduct, which can be found in the Members’ Area of the website.

Let’s nip this problem in the bud!
