Just before the 2nd lockdown we managed to run our U14 and U18 singles events. These events are usually showcased in the summer months, giving our members a chance to see our junior players participating in matches. Our players have been working incredibly hard in their lessons and due to the pandemic haven’t been able to get regular matchplay opportunities. So late October seemed to be the only opportunity. We held 2 day events for U18 and U14 boys and girls singles and although the weather conditions were incredibly tough the juniors did well. There were many tight matches and great play on show.
Finals results:
U18 boys singles – Luke Poulston beat Dominic Poulston 3-6 6-3 (10-5)
U18 girls singles – May Sadler beat Jessica Barr 7-5 6-3
U14 boys singles – Zach White beat Harry Payne 6-1 5-7 (10-6)
U14 girls singles – May Sadler beat Emila Sedgwick 6-0 6-0
Well done to all who competed. U10 events should take place as soon as we are out of lockdown.
