Covid-19 and us…..

HLTC

The current covid levels in Wirral are 235 per 100,000 population. Liverpool is even higher at 552 per 100,000. The UK average is 62 per 100,000. The number of new cases locally has increased by 50% in a week. 502 new cases were recorded the week before last and this increased up to 761 last week. This is despite the new government restrictions imposed recently for Liverpool and Wirral.

The local measures (3 October 2020) impact on us. We are allowed to continue to play tennis in groups of more than 6 outdoors, because sessions are organised by the club or coach and because the LTA has published guidance on how to do so safely. The local measures advise that you should not socialise with people you do not live with, unless they’re in your support bubble, in any public venue, and that the venue has a responsibility to ensure that this does not happen. This is why the bar will remain closed for the foreseeable future, although the situation will be reviewed each month at the committee meeting. The booking system enables you to avoid having to wait around: please arrive (enjoy your game!) and leave promptly.

Members need to take care to protect themselves, their families and other members. It is important that they follow the club’s guidelines on playing tennis safely and the government guidelines if they have symptoms or are in contact with anyone with symptoms. COVID-19: guidance for households with possible coronavirus infection

Keeping the tennis club open has been a life saver for many people and hopefully the new restrictions being talked about for next week will allow us to continue to play.
