Christmas Party – A review by Moya Locke

We had over 75 party revellers on Saturday at our Christmas party held at Caldy golf club.  The men looked dapper in dinner suits and the ladies hugely glamorous in a fabulous selection of outfits.   We were nicely warmed up with champagne on arrival, plenty of banter at the bar, then enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner.  Much hype was had about the length of our Chairman’s speech ….. plenty of money in pots with guesses from 2 minutes up to 9!  Even GEC may have struggled with that!  The sweepstake was won by Fiona Lalloo’s table with a correct time of 3 minutes 35 seconds.  They very kindly donated their £63 of winnings to the charity we supported on the night (the homeless Social bite) raising the total to £360.

The raffle was a huge success with Kikue Reeves winning 12 month’s membership and Paul Fryer picking up the round of golf at Royal Liverpool donated by Steve Roberts. Ann Ellice-Clark won the round of golf at Caldy donated by John Locke.  Lots of other prizes were shared out including bottles of gin, champagne, hampers and facials.

The highlight of the evening was The Junior Parker 7 piece band led by Andy Parker on sax who took us all through a selection of Soul and Motown which literally had the dance floor full from start to finish. Some great moves were to be had showing how flexible we all are – thankfully the bar closed at 12:30 which forced the die-hards  to finally go home.

Sore legs, sore heads and some great laughs.  Some guests on my table who had not been to our party before remarked on what a great crowd we all are, so thanks to all of you for making it a truly memorable night!
